YWCA Cass Clay is currently looking for a Full-Time Shelter Supervisor to oversee a high-performing Shelter Support Team. This position supports the mission of YWCA Cass Clay while ensuring the safety, security, and other needs of YWCA participants are met. The Shelter Supervisor generally works evening hours but must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays to cover shifts as necessary.

Job Duties:

Leadership

• Train, coach and supervise a high-performing Shelter team.
• Responsible for providing adequate training and orientation to new and current team members.
• Manage the creation of monthly staff schedule, providing 24-hour coverage
• Maintain open communication with team members by providing one-on-one meetings.
• Manage a collection of participant data, record keeping, outcome tracking, and meeting reporting deadlines.
• Act as a liaison between Shelter Support Specialists and the Shelter Manager.

Client Service Delivery

• Ensure the Shelter team intakes and orients women and children to YWCA Shelter following organizational guidelines.
• Provide participants with necessary items such as food, clothing, and other resources.
• Ensure participants are complying with program guidelines and procedures.
• Ensure the security of the Emergency Shelter by appropriately responding to phones, door buzzers, locks, security systems, fire alarm systems, and security checklists.
• Perform general administrative functions such as participant logging, answering the phone, and responding to in-person inquiries in a professional and timely manner.
• Provide immediate and professional response to any emergency or crisis at the Emergency Shelter.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the shelter, including maintaining adequate cleaning supplies and paper products.
• Delivery services with safety, respect, and effectiveness.

Other Job Duties

• Assist in shift coverage as necessary.
• Participate in OnCall rotation.
• Prompt and reliable attendance is required.
• Provide current certification in CPR and First Aid.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Female. (BFOQ)
• Associate's degree in behavioral sciences (i.e. social work, CDFS, sociology, criminal justice, human services, etc) field or equivalent education/experience is required.
• Understanding unique challenges for those experiencing domestic violence, homelessness, human trafficking, mental illness, and chemical dependence, and child development issues is essential.
• Ability to manage a high volume of work.
• Must have excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Meet all background check requirements.
• An understanding of, appreciation for, and support of the mission of the YWCA Cass Clay, which is eliminating racism and empowering women.

Requirements:

These physical demands are representative of the physical requirements necessary for an employee to successfully perform the essential job functions of this position. While performing the responsibilities for this position, the employee is required to sit, stand, walk, climb stairs, bend, push, carry and drive frequently. The employee will also be required to twist at waist, squat, kneel, stoop, crouch and reach overhead occasionally. Standing in place and sitting at desk for prolonged periods of time are performed occasionally. Repetitive keying, data entry, wrist motion, and reaching above the shoulders are performed frequently. Lifting up to 20 lbs. from shoulder to overhead is occasional, carrying and pulling up to 75 lbs. is performed frequently and pushing up to 40 lbs. is performed frequently.
