YWCA Cass Clay is currently recruiting an Accounting Specialist who supports the mission of the YWCA Cass Clay and assists with daily accounting operations. The Accounting Specialist must also have a basic understanding of GAAP and financial principles and terms. Under the supervision of our staff, the Accounting Specialist can expect to participate in the preparation of journal entries, deposits, payables, and financial reports, analyze actual financial data, and assist with other accounting activities.

Job Duties:

  • Perform Accounts Payable duties, such as coding invoices to proper GL accounts per agency program, gathering department approvals, processing agency checks in a timely manner, and resolving invoice or payment discrepancies.
  • Process daily deposits, assist in deposit entry, and perform monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Assist with month-end entries, general journal entries, and preparation of financial reports, such as balance sheets and income statements.
  • Gather, code, and enter all employee credit card receipts.
  • Reconcile spending of restricted funds, and grant funds, and prepare items needed for reimbursement requests.
  • Track vendor information, including W-9s, and manage updates as required.
  • Handle sensitive or confidential information with honesty and integrity.
  • Work as part of the accounting team to compile and analyze data, track information, and support the organization.
  • Assist team members with additional tasks or projects.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Must have an understanding of accounting and financial principles.
  • Associate degree or two years of experience preferred.
  • Aptitude for math, proficiency with computers, including Microsoft Excel.
  • High level of efficiency, organization, accuracy, and responsibility.
  • Must have a strong desire to take on new challenges.
  • Must have excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Prompt and reliable attendance is required.
  • Meet all background check requirements.

Requirements:

These physical demands are representative of the physical requirements necessary for an employee to successfully perform the essential job functions of this position. While performing the responsibilities for this position, the employee is required to sit, walk, twist at the waist, and drive frequently. They are required to stand, climb, climb stairs, bend, push, carry, squat, kneel, stoop, crouch, and reach overhead occasionally. The employee will stand in place and perform other static motions occasionally and sit at the desk frequently. This employee will perform repetitive motions such as keying, data entry, and wrist motion frequently, and reach above shoulders occasionally. They are required to lift up to 20 lbs. from shoulder height to overhead occasionally, carry up to 20 lbs. occasionally, and push and carry up to 40 lbs. occasionally.
